Ver 1.5 Any progress?

Post by SLabuta » Mon 12. Nov 2018, 02:57

Hi Alex,

I still really like wing helper. So thanks for creating it!

But, I am starting to finally get to the point here I would like to use the DXF output from winghelper to cut parts on a CNC machine. I see that Ver 1.5 was going to make some improvements in that area and also "Improvement of the support for non-standard leading edges." I like using diamond leading edges on sheeted wings. Improving how these are exported in the DXF files would help speed up my design process. I'd like for WingHelper to just cut out the leading edge from the rib. Not just place a complete spar there. I've attached an example file of a project I've started. An electric UFO Pattern plane at 85% of the original size.

Any news and/or progress on Ver 1,5 ?

Steve

Hello Steve,

I'm happy to hear you still enjoy the Wing Helper!

1.5 will be released as first public beta before the end of this year - if all goes according to the plan, beginning of December. Here is how the improved diamond edges will look like:

The 4-Axis hot-wire CNC support will be one of the most important changes in 1.5.0, here a screenshot of a simulation run of LinuxCNC:

Stay tuned for announcement here in forum and on the WIng Helper Facebook page. :)

Fantastic! It seems the updates may be available just when I need them.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks!

I'll do my very best! :)

As I said in another thread, I don't have the means to actually test the NC code, except in a simulation (I'm using the wonderful LinuxCNC for that), so if you could help in the beta test phase to check the results, it would be great - the more eyes involved, the less bugs remaining! I'll keep you posted here in forum.

Best regards,

Hi,

you can find the first video of the simulation run of the 4-Axis CNC wire cutter export here.

And here is how the data entry window looks like:

Just a small teaser, if I am allowed... ;)
